The calm before.

Light pitter patters of raindrops,

Falling on faces.

Ripples on water.

Words exchanged gently.

Still & quiet.

Soft & delicate.

A breeze starts to form

Grows into a gale.

An adventure unfolds.

Uncontainable laughter.

Pure joy.

THIS is what eloping is all about.

When we had curated the timeline for Austin + Alyssa's day we unknowingly had planned the entire day to take place in the eve of Storm Amy - so when the weather warnings came in we kept an eye on the forecast & made plans the day before to shift timings around to ensure we weren't out when the danger warnings came into place. Being photographers in Scotland we're pretty well versed in being out in wild weather & we know how to make art in wind & rain BUT we also know the limits & we know the importance of staying safe & making calls when we need to! We made the call to move the schedule earlier in the day & it meant we got to experience the calm before the storm & a little bit of the storm itself - we stayed safe, we surrendered to the rain (some of my favourite photos are the ones where they just looked up to the sky letting rain soak their faces -just magical) & we laughed so much!! THIS is what eloping is all about. Austin + Alyssa were just the dream to work with, they embraced the weather like champions & this day will be one we remember for life!
