Amber & Tyler | Isle of Skye Elopement
“Tyler and I fell in love with Skye because of our experience there, but we first found it because of @joannaelizaphotography.
Joanna and Nathan have an ability to capture moments, no matter how small they may seem, and emphasize their beauty.
We will forever treasure the quick glances, little moments, and photos of sentimental items that were captured on our special days. We will also hold dear the memories we made with Joanna and Nathan, who are just the loveliest (and coolest) people you'd ever meet. Thank you doesn't even begin to cover how we feel.” ~ the sweetest words in response to their gallery which left me in a blubbering mess!
Being able to tell a story stems from a yearning to listen and to observe. To see what holds meaning & collect those little gems like sea glass on the beach, to take it away & make something beautiful & full of meaning.
As years go by and memories fade, photographs allow chapters of life to dance back into our minds, taking us back to adventures once embarked on!
PART 1 // We had the honour of getting to spend two days with Amber & Tyler as they eloped here on Skye! They'd told us they wanted beach, trees & rocks to look at and we knew just the spot! We took them to a gem of a spot on Skye where we wandered the beach looking at rocks and hunting for seaglass! The weather was forecast a "wee drizzle" & Amber had been saying how much she loves storms & we had been saying how rare actual thunderstorms are here - little did we know that at our final spot of the day we'd get caught in an INSANE thunderstorm!
There was a constant rumbling & the sky turned all kinds of crazy colours, we got absolutely soaked to the bone but truly had so much fun! Laughed more than we've ever laughed before & just really made an adventure of it all! A truly unforgettable experience!
Then it was home to bed & dry out all our cameras & clothes before heading out to our favourite spot on Skye where they'd exchange their vows & tie the knot the following day!
To be continued below…
Slow & Intentional — the core of our approach.
To stop & to see. To take a deep breath in & be present.
Amber + Tyler's two day Isle of Skye Elopement just felt like it embodied all of this so beautifully.
PART 2 // the second day we spent with Amber + Tyler was for their elopement itself and they had chosen our favourite place on earth to be the spot they'd exchange their vows! They'd said they knew it would be a pretty special spot if as locals it's our favourite place and yet still said the location far exceeded their expectations!
In a rather dramatic contrast to the storm the day before, the sunglasses were out & we were off on an adventure! Amber + Tyler wove in some of the most precious and intentional details into their elopement and we really do feel so honoured to have been able to share in capturing the story! As lovers of rocks they bought with them an oathing stone from home with their initials carved into it, Amber had made their handfasting cord including such delicate nods to loved ones, Tyler hand carved a quiach, Amber had attended a stained glass workshop and had made a heart shaped ring box, precious words were carved into her ring and around her neck, a locket with her loved ones in! Truly truly so special in every way!
I'll always get a bit emotional thinking about what a privilege it is to be in the presence of moments like this. It's something we'll never take for granted. To see love & make art. To hear stories & witness core memories be formed. Forever grateful.
Forever honoured. What a precious adventure!
